"A darkly alluring display of fresh tobacco, lavender, balsam herbs, mint and crushed cherries wafts up from the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Vallocchio. This is elegant and pliant, with velvety textures ushering in a mix of strawberry and plum, complemented by exotic spices, yet also contrasted by a salty mineral core. Sweet tannins frame the expression well, leaving hints of black tea, sour citrus and currants to linger long. This is very nicely done and wonderfully balanced for the vintage."
