"With more than 500 years of documented winemaking history (with a villa and cellars dating back to 1580), Argiano is one of the oldest and most important estates in Montalcino. The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino shows consistency and a velvety texture with blackberry and blackcurrant. There is good freshness here, and the wine is a rather lean in terms of mouthfeel. This is a more accessible wine, with a release of 130,000 bottles."

"Winemaker Bernardino Sani estimates a 30% loss due to frost in 2021, saying that this concentrated everything – acid, tannins and flavours. To temper and harmonise this Brunello, he gave it six months longer in wood than the past few vintages. While still shy just after bottling, it was exploding with rose, mint blossom, pepper and rosemary a few months later. Round in shape yet light and bright on its feet, the flavours are full and pure. Raspberry, juicy plum and nectarine intertwine with those sweet herbs, while smooth tannins caress. Deliciously mouthstaining."
