Opinions sur 2022 Löwengang Chardonnay (1,5L)

Decanter: 93

"On the nose there are aromas of medlars and pomegranate and underneath, the slightly earthy character of the spontaneous ferment. The palate is broad and silky, with soft acidity but a fresh, minerally energy and a long, buttery, pastry shop finish. An intriguing version from the hot 2022 vintage of this iconic Alto Adige Chardonnay."

"The Alois Lageder 2022 Chardonnay Löwengang (made with organic and biodynamic fruit) is luminous and bright in appearance. Seeing a spontaneous fermentation in oak barrel, the wine reveals sweet citrusy aromas of preserved lemon followed by minty apple. It also shows nutty elements to match the zesty flavors and creamy texture of the mouthfeel. This Chardonnay ends with soft layers of pastry and lemon custard cream. Production is 46,600 bottles."

"A complex, detailed wine that’s not without funky notes. Fairly neutral and slightly buttery on the nose with white flowers and citrus peel. Medium- to full-bodied, this is silky with an almost oily palate. Quite lifted acidity in the finish. From organically and biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold."
